Just A Quick Email

Hi Elder Penrod,

I realize I get to talk to you a lot this week and last so I was going back and forth on sending you an email.

Last night's phone call made me really want to write to you so here you go

I am so proud of you for speaking up. That was a hard situation and sometimes we as members confuse meekness with putting up with things, even abuse. But the Savior was meek, not that he didn't speak out but that he did it in a way that showed that he cared and loved those he spoke to. You speaking up allows the Mission President to see a need and also get Elder Larson the help he needs to grow.

One more thought before I let you go. Our sacrament meeting for Christmas was great. We had musical numbers and testimonies from different ward members. Dad did awesome on his singing with me, I am so grateful that he was willing to do that. What stood out to me the most though was Sis. Robinson's testimony.

She shared the thought she heard recently from a devotional that we always want the perfect Christmas. The perfect lights, the perfect outfit, the perfect present, the perfect meal. But, the truth is the first Christmas was not perfect. Mary had a long, hard day of traveling.

Joseph could not find a warm safe place for his wife. And Jesus was bom in the most humble of settings, a manger for his bed. Life isn't perfect and our Savior knows that. We are not perfect and our Savior knows that. But he meets us where we are, in imperfect situations and as imperfect people.

I loved that thought so I thought I would pass it on.

I love you bud, I am always excited to see and hear from you.

Love,

Mom
