Service, Service, And More Service

Image
P-Day is on a Monday this week because they are having transfers tomorrow. I am going to a new area. I am going to be in The Lacey Zone in Mckenna so we'll see how that goes next week. We had an awesome lesson with Chinh yesterday and honestly the only reason we didn't invite to baptism is because we are waiting to see how committed his mom will be. But it was definitely cool to see him progress this transfer. It gives me a lot of hope to hear about how he reminds his mom to pray and that he loves going to church. He told us a bunch of the stories he liked from the Book of Mormon. Kids are cool sometimes. At church yesterday, one of the primary leaders introduced me to this man who just kind of showed up to the building, said "hi" and told him that I was glad he was here. And then I turned to get back to my companion because he was busy talking to somebody when suddenly something told me "don't you dare walk away from him". So I went back to talk to him ...

New Ride

Hello again, We got a new ride for our area. It's a 23 Nissan Rogue and it's pretty nice. My companion and I already tested out its Bass in the speakers, and they re pretty good. Sadly we haven't gotten any lessons this week, besides member dinners, but we had quite a few services so that was good. We helped a Senior Sister in the ward with finding some Temple Names in her storage. We did yard work for another Sister and helped move furniture for a Brother. All were pretty old and needed some young people for some labor. Luckily we were able to help out. I hit 6 months yesterday, that was Interesting. I just got told today I was supposed to burn something so.... I don't think I'll do it. It's too wet outside. 6 months came by fast though and this transfer has gone by fast as well. That's about it, not much happened this week. My invitation to you all is to go outside and appreciate nature. You'll feel closer to god out there. Love you all - Elder Penrod

Easter And Such

Hi Elder Penrod, I hope that you are doing well. I probably won't have much to talk about since we spoke to you on Sunday. How are you doing? How is your week going so far? How is your companion? How are your friends doing? We had our usual Easter Egg Hunt at Lisa's on Saturday. It was fun and they were able to convince Beth and Cameron to hunt for eggs with the promise of vending machine money . It was fun to see Rylen (Liam's boy) and Ethan hunt around for eggs. It sounds like Rylan is going to be a big brother in November. Josh Burger's wife is also expecting, they will be having a boy in September. So lots of new babies on the way. Yesterday and today the deck guy has been here at the house installing our deck. I am so excited to have it, I think it will look great! We just have to figure out how we are going to barricade the dog in until the fence can be attached to the backyard. Dad has plans to do the siding but we have the wrong trim pieces so it may be awhile u...

Easter

Image
Hello everybody. Easter was awesome! We had a cool program this sunday. Something cool that happened is Elder Call and I got asked to pass the sacrament and that actually happens a lot in this ward, but it was nice to pass it on Easter. While I was passing the sacrament I saw Chinh (The Kid we were teaching) reading the Children's Book of Mormon we gave him. And he was just soaking that book up: he looked like he was enjoying it. I have to admit, probably the happiest moment of my service in this area. Other than that not much has happened. Last wednesday we had a District council and our District Leader gave a training on sincere prayer. I'll admit it had been a while since I had done that. Later that day I had an impression to pray while we were taking a break at the trails in our area. It was the longest prayer I've prayed since the MTC. I remember not really an answer but a confirmation. A confirmation that I was done and that I can start over again. And it helped us ou...

Women With Flower Names Are Elect

Ok looks i'm back to procrastinating the emails. Some things that have happened over the two weeks, we had a lesson with Chinh again. Taught him the Plan of Salvation using pokemon cards. He seems to be getting more interested in the church and Jesus now. He's been more diligent in praying and reading his scriptures so he's doing well. We stopped by a grey dot in our area book named Lavender last week and she opened the door and was like "you guys always show up at the right time....I just finished praying". Which is what people usually say when they are high, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. We invited her to watch a general conference and had a church tour with her the next day as well. Lavender seems pretty chill and she does keep commitments so we'll see how it goes. When I was watching the General Conference I noticed that a lot of the talks, specifically the saturday evening session, were about member inactivity and bringing the sheep back...

Happy General Conference

Hi Elder Penrod, How was your conference weekend? Did you do any teaching this week? What talk stood out to you? I really enjoyed listening to all the talks given. It is also nice to not have to dress up for the occasion. I think the theme on the Saturday morning session was definitely resolving conflict and not allowing anger to consume your life. The prophet's council in those regards was piercing and I felt that it was exactly what we all needed to hear. I like to be apprised of the news and current events and can see how his council is so applicable. There is a lot of hate and animosity out there right now and we can all use a little more compassion, more understanding, and more peacemaking. I hope you are doing well and are excited about the Easter weekend. You may be getting your Easter basket late... In my head I was like "yeah, it will get there before Sunday in time for Easter"... I am sorry I don't think through how P day works. So next Tuesday, expect some ...
