Hey I Hope You Are Doing All Right

Hi Elder Penrod, I hope you are doing all right. I love you!! Love, Mom

Happy Birthday Week

Hi Elder Penrod, Happy Birthday!! Woot woot!! How is your week so far? Have you done anything interesting and new? How is the ward? I hope you are doing well. It has been another whirlwind of a week for us. I feel like they fly by so quickly, sometimes. The week was a typical week. I ended up going into the office more than I usually do this last week. We had Elder Stevenson, Bishop Causse, and Sis Tracy Browning visiting the employees for a broadcast from the Tabernacle. That was pretty cool. They talked about how our job is not a calling, but it is more than just a career with the church as we are still representatives of Christ's church even though it is our professional career and we are focused on helping others to further their own careers as well. They have a new Communications Guidebook that we use to help guide us with making decisions in our day to day work and leadership roles. They talked about how we should view each other and those we work with outside of the church a...

Another Week

Hi Elder Penrod, How are things going? How was your baptism? Did you get pictures ? How are things with Elder Brown? Are you both still getting along? It was a pretty routine week last week but with a little more time in the office for me. I feel like I need to go in a little more than I usually do because of a project we are working on right now. It does make it hard sometimes. Like on Wednesday, was in a meeting in Riverton when I received a sweet little text from Cameron asking it he was being picked up by Grandpa still from school. It was a half hour after he was supposed to be picked up so I panicked and excused myself from the meeting. I hurried and made phone calls and Laura was kind enough to run over there. She arrived at the same time as Grandpa. Cameron did teach me something though. He wasn't mad about being left, instead he sent me a text saying it was ok and that Grandpa was doing what was important, spending as much time with Grandpa Great as he can. So instead of mak...

How Are You?

Hi Elder Penrod, I hope that you are having a good week. I believe Dad told you about our week, haha. It has been an interesting one for sure. We have been bailing water tonight, as well. The sump pump has been working hard. These last two storms have been massive. We are grateful for the rain and snow though with how dry our summer was last year, hopefully we can have a better summer this year. Curtis keeps meeting his goals for the year in January. His first goal was to place at a tournament and then he upped his goal to place in the top 3. Now he has a goal to take 1st place. We will see what the next weeks bring. Beth and Cameron are working to have better grades this quarter. It is nice to have them more focused on grades. The upstairs computer has decided to give up the ghost, so that may be helping with that focus, good that they are recognizing the need to improve. Either way, it is really good that they are recognizing they need to improve.  Today we had Sis. Larsen (Krist...

"That's What's Up"

Image
Time for another, my week has actually been really great this time. I'm getting to know my companion Elder Brown a lot better and I got to admit we are quite similar. I've had companions who had similar personalities and interests as me, but Elder Brown and I are like on the same wave length. There's differences for sure, but our minds are almost always going in tune with each other. It's actually kind of scary sometimes. I've got to say I've been figuring out how to get less stressed and sad all the time. It might have something with the medication I'm taking and that's kind of scary, but it does make sense to me actually. I'm still trying to figure things out. I've been doing good at taking breaks when I need to now though. That actually helps a lot and it makes lessons more engaging and less energy killing. So yeah I'm doing good now. We had some good lessons this week. We had one with this kid named Jayden and his dad Jimmy. They were bot...

A New Year And New Goals

Hi Elder Penrod, I have been reflecting on new goals for the year. Last year I planned on losing weight, which I did, 2 ibs (it would have been more but I really enjoyed my holidays. This year I am still going to try and lose weight, but I am going to focus not so much on the losing weight, as I am about just being present. So often we do things for the results, but this year I am going to try and enjoy the journey as well. Sis. Ostler has been in and out of the hospital the last couple weeks and the ward has been praying for them and other: nat are going through struggles right now. We had a special fast for them and I felt the spirit so strong as we gatherer together in fasting for our ward. How are you doing? Do you have new year goals for your mission? Have you met any new friends? How is your ward doing? How are you and your companion doing? Some other things of note: -Curtis took 6th place at the Richardson Tournament at Box Elder High -Beth cleaned her room so I could actually s...

ET Phone The Mission Pres.

So my trainer has been emergency transferred. I think he was just dealing with so much himself that he just couldn't be training someone this transfer and I was dealing with a lot of adjusting and trying to figure out concentration issues. It just wasn't the right thing for us to be companions. I think the biggest problem though was we were bad at communicating. We talked but we never said what needed to be said. It's nothing against him but i think those conflicts were the reason ! was not feeling my most chipper self so far. So I've got a new companion, Elder Brown I thought he was strange at first, but I'm actually starting to really enjoy having him as a companion. He plays the guitar as well so we've been jamming out together these last couple of days. I taught him how to play Smells Like Teen Spirit and Enter the Sandman and he taught me how to play Blackbird. This is technically mission appropriate because it's a "companion team building activity...
