Elder Penrod

Hi Elder Penrod, How are you? How is the companionship? Are you staying busy? Anymore scenic jaunts to the hiking trails nearby? This week we have made progress on the home, just slight but we have determined what we are going to be moving forward on so that is good. We have the HVAC guy scheduled and the decking guy scheduled to do their work. We have most of what we need to do the siding, except a little hiccup. The trim they gave us at Lansing is the wrong trim so we won't be moving forward on that atter all. Some other fun things about the week: Dad is officially called as the Ward Mission Leader along side Bro Smedley. That will be an awesome duo right there. Can you imagine the lessons they will give!?! Beth and I went to the Wahlquist Musical "Freaky Friday" based on the musical version that Disney did. It was a lot of fun and your cousin Kaylee Marsh and Kate Perkins were in it and they did a fantastic job. It was fun to see and Beth's friend Liberty was in th...

Transfer Buzz!!!

Transfers Happened this week, and I got a new companion. His name is Elder call. He's an optimistic elder and a hard worker, but knows how to have fun with the work. He's been out about two or three transfers ahead of me so we're both pretty new. Even though we have done a lot of contacting and visits we haven't really gotten too much progress with the work, but that's ok because I think the members have noticed our efforts and have helped out a lot lately. We are still teaching Rosie, but I don't know how long we will be doing that. She likes talking to the missionaries, but we think she just likes talking to other Christians and has no interest in joining our church. Chinh I think is progressing. Our second lesson with him was fast paced and very quick, but I think this time he was really listening and wanting to lear, maybe, you never know with him. I just want to say hard work is important. Not just because "it needs to be done", but because it act...

Hey Kiddo

Hi Elder Penrod, How is everything going? How is the new companion? Did transfers go on for you? Is the same old same old here. The weather warmed up for a little bit but we are in for some more snow later this week, haha. So much for first day of spring. Curtis is excited to have a tournament this Saturday. He has been missing the opportunity to compete. Cameron is just hanging out, he is such a good help around the house and now that he is taller, I can ask him to get me stuff from the top shelf. Bethany is getting pretty creative with everything. She has Art this quarter and has shown me some pretty impressive rorks she has done. One was a D&D character that has a bit of a mushroom theme and a really cool watercolor lea she also made my decking samples into a house (see pic, haha) Dad is working hard organizing the many house projects and trying to keep all the rain and snow from flooding our basement. He also tore apart our dishwasher in an attempt to fix it. It worked for a bi...

Some Friends And Some Foes (But Not Really Because We Love Everyone)

Image
The area has finally started to get some activity now. We've been keeping some lessons going with our friend and we have some good fellowship with that. She likes attending church and the ward activities so that's good. Saturday we got bashed. She was very nice though, but really did not believe in the Book of Mormon and told us it was of Satan. Right after that we visited a drunk lady who wanted a prayer, sounds familiar, but this time it wasn't too weird. She said we were awesome and what we do is good which was nice. Transfers are coming and I'll be getting a new companion so Elder Higbee will be leaving. I'll miss him actually he's been a pretty good companion even though he's a bit trunky. That's pretty much it. Thank you guys for the support again. I have some hope for this area now, so we'll see how it goes. Love yall -Elder Penrod

How's It Going?

Hi Elder Penrod, How are you doing? How is the companion? What have you been up to? What new things have you leared about Tacoma Washington? We have been doing well. It has been really wet and snowy here. I feel like winter may no end, haha, it just keeps coming. The kids have entered the 4th quarter of their school year. I can't believe they are almost done and then I will have another Senior and a Sophmore and only one in junior high. That just seems crazy to me. Some things that the family has been up to this week: Curtis took the ACT. He said that it wasn't too bad. We are not sure when he will get his results back. He also built his Christmas present finally, which was a speaker that is made out of an ammunition can. It actually makes a pretty good, bluetooth speaker. When you look for it on bluetooth it is called "jamunition", hehe. Curtis also says that his friend Brayden is learning the guitar and is not quite getting it. He is wondering if you have any sugges...

It's March!

Hi Elder Penrod, I hope that you are doing well. I can't believe it is March already! I feel like time is just flying by. How are you doing? How is the area?Have you seen any new cool nature trails? How is the ward doing? Has it been rainy this last week? We had a pretty usual week last week. Today is Cameron's birthday. He received a lego set (Ford GT) and an electric razor (I can't believe he is getting a little mustache already, haha). He is studying to go take the permit test so if you have any advice on how to pass, let him know. Bethany had a weird rash going on and we found out it was impetigo/staph infection. It was not fun, but hopefully we have it under control. She is as tall as me when the doctor measured her so I am thinking I will be the shortest in the family because she is not done growing. Dad has been enjoying his apple watch. He is really dedicated to closing his loops and getting in his exercise and eating this new diet that is very similar to Keto. We h...
