Hello Again :)
Hi Elder Penrod,
How was your week? Did you get to see new places and talk to new people? How is your studying going? Have you been enjoying reading the New Testament?
I really enjoy the lessons in the New Testament. I enjoy the many insights that are found in the parables taught by Jesus. I love that he took everyday life and was able to find similes in the context of the gospel. And that we are able to still relate to the stories he shared.
Today we sang the Wiseman and the Foolish Man. If I remember correctly, that one was one of your favorites growing up. It was always fun to sing about the rains tumbling down on the houses and the house on the rock stood still. It is really easy to be overcome by the storms of life when you are shaky in your foundation, but how much easier trials are when you tum to your Savior to guide you and strengthen you through those hard times.
This week has been relatively quiet.
Dad was able to get Curtis out to help on the addition for a couple hours yesterday.
Beth went snowshoeing with the Young Women and had a pretty good time, even though it was much like a hike in the snow, haha.
Cameron is really enjoying hanging out with Riley Jones (Ash Jones' son). They enjoy nerf wars and minecraft. I can't believe he will be 15 this upcoming Monday (March 6th). So, he will be reading the materials to get a learners permit.
Curtis will start up spring wrestling on Tuesday. It will be a different style of wrestling so he will have to remember the techniques. He and his team have a goal of 100 matches before the fall wrestling tryouts.
I went and sang in a singing competition that my voice teacher recommended I do. I realize that I am terrible at keeping my nerves in check for performance and didn't do as well as I had hoped. I learned a lot about myself though, haha. She asked if I would do it again and I haven't really decided in my head if I would. It was more terrifying than I thought it would be and I prepared so much and got down the memorization and the breaths, etc. to just let it all go out the window was a big disappointment. I will think about it though.
I hope that you are doing well. T hope that you have had an opportunity to share the gospel, even if it was just to one person and just a quick sentence or two. I hope that you are finding joy in the work. It isn't easy but the message you are sharing is absolutely life changing. We had Ash and Crystal Jones speak today and they shared their reactivation stories with us. It was so good and it was a perfect reminder that there are those who are being prepared for the messages that you have. They are out there waiting and it may be that they are still in that preparation period and not quite ready to come back but every little bit adds up.
I love you tons. I am excited to hear from you again on Tuesday. I hope the weather has been good for you. It has been crazy here, haha.
Love you tons!
Love,
Mom
