The Redo Button
Hi Elder Penrod,
How are things going? How is your new companion? Did you get your packages, lol?
I hope that you have had a good start to your week. Things are pretty busy around here with summer activities.
We had some great talks given for Father's day. Sis Carver talked about her husband and her Dad and Grandpa. I think I told you a little bit about her message to her Dad telling him to come to church, it is not only about socializing but committing to our Savior and His gospel.
Sis. Fowers spoke about how her Dad would visit her at work regularly and just bring her a little hamburger meal and just talk. She said she came to look forward to it every week. She also spoke about Elder Uchtdorf's talk this last conference where he says "For a moment, imagine this situation: You're at church, listening to a talk about families. The speaker describes a perfect home and an even more perfect family. Husband and wife never quarrel. Children stop reading their scriptures only when it's time to do homework. And the music of "Love One Another" is playing in the background. Before the speaker gets to the part about everyone cheerfully joining to clean the bathroom, you're thinking, "My family is hopeless." Dear brothers and sisters, relax! Everyone in the congregation is thinking the same thing! The fact is, all parents worry about not being good enough. Fortunately, there is a divine source of help for parents: It is Jesus Christ. He is the source of our mighty change of heart.
The truth is, I had a horrendous day on Sunday. Not because it was Father's day but it just seemed like everything was going wrong from the get go. I was able to deliver a decent breakfast but by the end of the day I was feeling pretty beaten up. There is no Redo button in life. I would love to go back and get another shot at the primary singing, sharing time lesson, and the PB bars that just would not cook right, haha. But the reality is I can't. But I can rely on my Savior, 1 can take what I did learn from the day and let him take away the pains of not being enough for the rest and allow him to strengthen me to keep going and keep trying.
I hope that you are having a good day today. I look forward to talking with you soon.
Love you tons!
Love.
Mom
